Classic Song: Mr. Brightside

Released as the second single for the Killers debut album Hot Fuss, Mr. Brightside was a rapid success peaking at number 10 in the United States as well as in the U.K. It was named "the song of the decade" by several UK radio stations and it received a bunch of other accolades making it an instant classic for the people.

Who doesn't know this song? The first time I listened to it, I already knew it and I don't know how that happened. It may not be an all-time classic song, because it is not that old compared to the other classic songs, just yesterday was the 11th anniversary for Mr. Brightside.

The story on how they wrote it is a simple one: A girl cheated on Brandon Flowers. Poor girl. How could she knew that she was going to inspired such a great song? Lyrically it describes perfectly how the boy (Brandon Flowers) felt when the girl cheated on him, there's really not much to it, but he did a hell of a job doing it and also... that riff, the first time you listen to it, you know it's gonna stuck in your head for the next couple of hours or so. The rhythm, the change of time just before the chorus, the chorus! everything about this song is simply great.

I would imagine that you already listened to this song or at least know Mr. Brightside, but if you haven't then, what are you waiting for?
